EXPERIENCE:
Throughout his adult years, Justin has been deeply involved in the human services sector. His professional journey kicked off by
working with at-risk youth in Nebraska, providing crucial support and mentorship to young individuals facing diverse challenges. After moving to
Oregon, he worked with not-for-profit and Department of Veterans Affairs working alongside individuals experiencing homelessness.
Upon moving to Kansas in 2013, Justin worked at the Department of Corrections in Kansas for a state prison providing case
management to incarcerated men. All of these experiences fueled his commitment to the field of social work.
Post obtaining his Master’s degree, Justin transitioned into therapeutic roles, wanting something different from case management. He interned
and was employed at a not-for-profit counseling center, delivering compassionate therapy to individuals seeking support. He later accepted a job
as a therapist at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Topeka, Ks in the mental health clinic.
Due to his desire to better serve the community he lived in, Justin transitioned employment to a community medical clinic and
private practice providing mental health services in Lawrence KS.
Personal:
Justin is a husband and father who enjoys the fullness and activity of family life. Raised in the Midwest, he appreciates the sense of community and connection that shaped his early years. While in high school, he enlisted in the National Guard as and served as a military police officer and he now serves as a Behavioral Health Officer in the Kansas National Guard.
Justin has always been interested in people’s stories and the experiences that shape who we become. Outside of his work as a therapist, he enjoys running, staying active, and spending time outdoors. As much as he appreciates the energy and joy that children bring to life, he is also very fond of quiet mornings with a good book and a cup of coffee.
